What's an alternative to a group text for sports teams?
follo is an alternative to a team group text: families follow the team with a link or QR code, and you send practice changes and cancellations that reach everyone without the replies. Nobody's phone number is shared with the group.
Step by step
-
Create a Team / Class follo
Title it with the team name and age group.
-
Share it at the first practice
QR code on the roster sheet, link in the league email.
-
Families follow
Parents, grandparents and carpool drivers can all follow.
-
Send what matters
Practice changes, location changes, reminders and cancellations.

Other ways, and when they're better
A group text
Better when the group is small and everyone already knows each other. It gets noisy fast and shares everyone's number with everyone.
A league app
Better when the league already uses one for schedules and scores. Families may not install it, and it's often more than a small team needs.
An email list
Better for long newsletters with images and sections. It means sign-up forms, unsubscribes and a tool to run.
What follo is
follo is a one-way notification service that lets people follow a person, business, product, event, group, property, waitlist, or other subject through a link or QR code and receive updates from its owner.
