Guide
What is a QR code notification system?
A QR code notification system lets anyone scan a code and ask to be notified about something. With follo, every follo you create has its own QR code, and everyone who scans it and follows gets your updates in follo, and by email on paid plans.
Step by step
-
Create a follo
Choose what people follow and give it a title.
-
Download or print its QR code
From the follo's link and QR code screen, or as a printable card.
-
Post the code where people are
A sign, a flyer, a table tent, a window.
-
Send updates
Pick a template or write your own; everyone who followed hears it.
What the message looks like
Neighborhood lost and found: update
Found: a set of keys on a red lanyard near the playground.
Other ways, and when they're better
A QR code to a web page
Better when you only need to show information once. It can't tell people when the page changes.
An email list
Better for long newsletters with images and sections. It means sign-up forms, unsubscribes and a tool to run.
A social post
Better for reaching new people who don't know you yet. Followers only see it if the feed decides to show it.
What follo is
follo is a one-way notification service that lets people follow a person, business, product, event, group, property, waitlist, or other subject through a link or QR code and receive updates from its owner.

Questions
Does the QR code ever change?
No. Each follo's code and link are fixed, so printed codes keep working.
What does someone see after scanning?
The follo's public page, with a Follow button.
Does it need an app to scan?
No. Any phone camera opens the page.
